An attorney in service to you...

Jim has been a practicing attorney since 1977. For over twenty-five years, he was a senior corporate tax attorney for Amoco Corporation. He became an expert in dispute resolution and was the company’s lead attorney responsible for resolving all major tax disputes with the IRS. In 2002, Jim took an early retirement from the corporate law world and decided to shift his focus and enhance his skill set by returning to graduate school and earning a Masters Degree in Counseling, with an emphasis on marriage and family issues. This change was prompted by a strong desire to work more closely with “real people” resolving issues that profoundly impact the quality of family life.

Jim is a Licensed Professional Counselor and has earned certificates in mediation and collaborative law. He understands that divorce involves an intertwined set of challenges involving legal, financial and emotional issues.

His unique background in the legal and counseling arenas allows him to help clients as they navigate their transition from one life stage to another in a manner that encourages respect, honesty, and positive growth. As Jim explains, “I want to do my part to help divorcing families start new lives building on communication and agreement, not the anger and bitterness that all too often accompany divorce.”
