Collaborative FAQ

Are other professionals involved in a collaborative case?

Depending on the circumstances of each individual case, there are trained collaborative professionals who can be brought into the process to take some of the burden from the spouses in developing an agreement.

Collaborative coaches are trained mental health professionals whose role is to assist the husband and the wife in moving through their divorce.  Each spouse has a coach who typically supports their client in developing and presenting their needs to the other spouse. They also help their client be open to what their spouse’s needs are in return.

A financial neutral is a financial professional who integrates the couple’s financial information and can help evaluate alternative settlement scenarios for discussion.

A child specialist is another mental health professional specializing in the impact of divorce on children. The child specialist can help the couple make informed decisions about post-divorce parenting challenges and can focus discussions on the best interests of the child.
